ARTIST STATEMENT

I am motivated by the act of reimagining, whether that’s turning an object into something entirely different from its original purpose or reinterpreting and isolating a scene through painting. I am equally inspired by exploration, which manifests itself in the experimentation of diverse mediums through which to express creativity and craft.

I often work on several projects at a time, in a variety of mediums, from fiber arts to painting to sculpture. I work by jumping from piece to piece, making additions when the next part of the project reveals itself, and often returning to the same sources of inspiration. Pittsburgh buildings and geography are a particularly important influence.
